Thanksgiving Events in Calgary

Thanksgiving is nearly here, and in addition to the great meal that you’ll be having with family and friends, you should consider an outing together as well. Here are a few activities that will be perfect for the group Thanksgiving weekend.

Thanksgiving Dining

First off, if you don’t actually feel like cooking a big meal yourself, you have options as to who you’d like to cook for you instead. A few places to get a great Thanksgiving meal include:

  • Wainwright Hotel at Heritage Park (Oct. 10-12; $15-25)
  • Carriage House Inn (Oct. 10-12; $19-38)
  • Gray Eagle Resort and Casino (Oct. 11-12; $30)
  • Glenmore Inn (Oct. 11; $18-30)

For more upscale fare or more of a dinner experience, try dinner at Azuridge Estate Hotel (Oct. 11-12; $95) or the Aspen Crossing Thanksgiving Train Tour (Oct. 11; $66-110).

Cinderella at Storybook Theatre

The Storybook Theatre is putting on their rendition of the classic story of poor Cinderella, who is mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters but obtains her own happy ending. Recommended for children ages three and up, it will play Friday, October 9th to Sunday, October 11th. Tickets are $16-21.

Thanksgiving Weekend at Heritage Park

The park’s summer season is nearly over, so Thanksgiving weekend is your last chance to enjoy the historical village attractions for the year. Bring the family out to enjoy themed activities such as pumpkin baking, and in addition to the Thanksgiving menu on offer in the park’s Wainwright Hotel Dining Room, The Selkirk Grille is also offering a Thanksgiving menu.

The Investors Group Alzheimers Thanksgiving Walk & Run

Now in its 25th year, this walk and run serves a great cause in raising money to support Calgary families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. If the cause isn’t incentive enough to get involved, this year’s prizes for the top fundraisers include a tropical dream vacation package.
